Laziness and Weight Gain

Laziness can be a bit of a problem for anyone looking to maintain a healthy weight. Being lazy makes it harder for you to find the motivation to do anything which is physically demanding, which generally means you don't do anything that leaves you even slightly out of breath. That is, unless you're so unfit merely walking up the stairs leaves you puffing and panting, desperately trying to gulp in air! If you don't force yourself to do something which takes you out of your comfort zone, you will find that weight gain is almost inevitable, because you simply don't burn enough calories in your everyday life.

The chances are you spend most of your day stuck behind a desk or a checkout and are not required to do anything which burns a substantial amount of calories. The trouble is that when you're surrounded by an abundance of cheap junk food, you probably aren't going to make the most sensible dietary choices, either. If you snack throughout the day and eat huge portions at meal times and don't do any exercise to burn off these calories, the result will be weight gain. If you come home from work and stick a pizza in the oven and spend the evenings snacking whilst sat in front of the television, what other outcome could you realistically expect?

The only way to avoid weight gain is by reducing your calorie intake or increasing your calorie expenditure or by doing a bit of both. If you've already gained weight and hope to reverse the situation you, again, need to concentrate on making changes to your diet and increasing the amount of exercise you do. If you're unhappy with the situation, you cannot fall back on your laziness as an excuse, as this will not change things. You therefore have to be prepared to make a real effort to change your lifestyle, so that you can manage your weight more effectively in the long run.

This means doing more things for yourself. Instead of getting your partner to cook your meals, perhaps you would be better off preparing your own. You need to spend time planning what you intend to eat and maybe even preparing your meals in advance, so that you can't blame lack of time for eating the wrong foods at work. You also have to ditch the car when you're only covering short distances, as your legs should get you to your destination without taking up too much time.

You need to stop making excuses about why you are unable to exercise and instead just do some, since you simply waste time whining about it, otherwise! To avoid weight gain, you have to learn to snap out of your lazy habits, so that you can replace them with ones which require a little more thought and effort. If you don't rely on quick-fix junk food and convenience meals and spend all your free time playing computer games or watching television, choosing to do some exercise instead, you will find that it becomes much easier to stay on top of your weight.
