Making Money from Online Articles

To be able to make money from online articles, it helps to have written a lot of high-quality articles that are promoted on a regular basis. If you write for content sites, clearly the more content you have, the greater the chances are that someone will click on one of your articles. Likewise, if you promote your articles using Twitter or Facebook and you have a substantial number of followers, the likelihood that someone will read your articles increases. Not all content sites use the same methods to calculate how much to pay writers, and so it may also be worth looking for the one that pays the highest percentage of ad revenue.

You obviously want to pick a site where you get a high percentage of ad revenue, but it’s also worth bearing in mind that content sites which have been established for a long time are likely to attract a larger audience. Plus, if they have been going for a long time and there have been no complaints from writers, then you at least know you’re going to get paid once you reach the established threshold for paying out. At the end of the day, if you’re producing high-quality content for a site where there are other well-produced articles, you know that readers are likely to keep coming back.

Even if you decide to write for a relatively new content site, you can still put some effort into promoting your work. It obviously helps if you write about what you know and produce a large number of articles on a given topic. It is easier to build up a following on Twitter and other social media sites if you have a specific interest in health and fitness, for instance, because you will be able to produce articles quickly and connect with people who have similar interests. This means your followers are more likely to click on your links and share them with other people, thus increasing the number of people that view your articles.

It might be tempting to focus on producing as many articles as you possibly can within a short space of time, but if your articles aren’t up to scratch they may well be deleted and you could find yourself earning nothing from them. Obviously, it helps to have lots of articles for people to read, but you really need to focus on getting your facts right and checking for spelling and grammatical errors before publishing any of your work. If your work is good enough, people will seek it out.

You can obviously play around with keywords to try to get your articles to the top of search engine rankings, but it isn’t always easy to work out what is going to increase an article’s rank. You should therefore concentrate on writing interesting, well-thought out articles in the first place, as this is your best chance of making money from writing online articles.
